Quiltboxes wood art pieces feature traditional quilt block designs executed in beautiful hardwood marquetry. I create these heirloom quality boxes in my studio in the capital region of Upstate New York.
The Carpenter's Wheel quilt pattern is a challenging but rewarding design. This stunning box has a background of Burl Walnut. The 3D illusion pattern uses Karelian Burl as the light wood, and figured Cherry as the medium value, which will darken further with age.
The inside of the box is cherry, with cherry lid liners and a velvet bottom. The hinges and knob are solid brass. It measures 7” square and 4” tall with black felt on the outside bottom.
The bottom of this box, when open, is 6 5/16" x 6 5/16" wide inside, and 2 1/8" deep. The lid measures 6 1/16" x 6 1/16" inside, and 3/4" deep. When closed, the height of the interior would be 2 7/8".
