Bear Paws Cube
This is the traditional quilt pattern called Bear Paws. When wrapped around a cube, you see a secondary pattern at the corners that looks like a teddy bear's face. On a shelf or table, you can see the pattern from any direction. This 5" cub is veneered with Red Maple Burl with paws of fumed Eucalyptus.
The inside is natural cherry wood with a black velvet bottom, and black felt on the outside bottom. The box dimensions are 5"x5"x5", and it has a lift-off top. A small registration “button” inside orients the lid so the grain and figure in the wood are aligned across the opening of the box.
One paw has a side that is slightly deeper than the surrounding edge. You can see a small repair at one corner, and there's a bit of discoloration from glue on the interior seams. But overall, this is a stunning box, and we've never again found this nice of a maple burl.
