Recipe Box In Bird's Eye Maple
uiltboxes wood art pieces feature traditional quilt block designs executed in beautiful hardwood marquetry. I make these heirloom quality boxes in my studio in the capital region of Upstate New York.
The quilt block pattern on this wood marquetry recipe box is Attic Windows. It’s a simple pattern that gives a nice 3D effect. The birdeye Maple is all around and on top, with the "windows" framed with quilted Sapele and dark fumed Larch.
The box is 7 1/8" long, 4 3/4" wide and 5 1/2" high with black felt on the bottom, and it is sized for 4x6" recipe cards or photos. The inside is birch.
This box was formerly out on consignment, where it got a couple of small dings in the front/center Larch inlay. Also, the top seems to have had some sun exposure, as the Birdseye is a bit yellowed.
