This is the traditional quilt pattern called Bear Paws. When wrapped around this box, you see a secondary pattern at the corners that looks like a teddy bear's face. On a shelf or table, you can see the pattern from any direction.
This 5" cube with a lift-off lid is veneered with a Olive Ash Burl, and the paws are Walnut Burl. The inside is Cherry with a black velvet interior bottom, and black felt on the outside base.
The bottom of this box, when open, is 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" wide inside, and 3" deep. The lid is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" inside, and 7/8" deep. When closed, the height of the interior would be 3 7/8".
A small registration brand inside orients the top and base, so the grain and figure in the wood stay aligned when you close the box.
